Team of the Month
Hallmark Health System Mammography
According to John Seccareccio, Director of Imaging Services, employee satisfaction survey results improved for Health Imaging/MWH by 9.1 to a score of 81; LMH improved by 11.1 to 92.7. Quality performance of the mammographers continues to run at a high level. Report turn-around time improves quality by assuring reports are sent to the physician in a timely manner and patients receive their lay letter within a week of service: FY11, 2.4 day average, FY12 Q1 2 days. Add View recommendations assure that all patients recommended for additional imaging have been notified. This is important to assure the patient receives the appropriate follow-up imaging. We are at 100 percent FY12 Q1. Once patients recommended for biopsies have been notified, we confirm that they have been scheduled at a HHS or other healthcare facility. This is important to ensure the patient receives the appropriate follow up imaging. For FY 12 Q1 this is at 100 percent. Positive Predictive Value: Abnormal mammograms yield additional diagnostic procedures, such as biopsies, recommended by the radiologist’s findings. Effectiveness Goal: 25 - 40 percent. CY 12 28 percent. Our growth has increased from 4,641 in Feb to 4,929 in March.

Employee of the Month
Donna Sandler, Administrative Assistant, Nursing Department
Donna has been an employee with Hallmark Health System (HHS) since 2000. As an Administrative Assistant in the Nursing Department, she has taken her role to new heights. Donna supports the ACNO and coordinates many activities for the entire Palliative Care Team. She is eager to assist in any way she can. A good example of this is when she willingly expanded her role in order to assist the nursing directors at both hospitals with maintaining their schedules and managing any tasks that may be required.
In 2010, Massachusetts required councils at all hospitals to facilitate patients input on clinical and operational issues and Donna has assumed the responsibility for coordinating these efforts under the Patient Advisory Council (PFAC). This is a very important venue for receiving patient feedback on system initiatives and this role requires ongoing communications between Donna and the patient representatives to the council in order to make this a successful program. Donna’s customer focused attitude shines through in all her communications and interactions. She interacts with staff from many areas and they consistently comment on her abilities, skills and most frequently her positive attitude. She is unfailingly kind, compassionate and helpful with an extremely high attention to detail. In addition to what her expected responsibilities are, she is also willing to take on other responsibilities such as facilitating nursing leadership’s holiday gift drives for local families and organizing celebratory activities. Donna is a true pleasure to work with; her work ethic not only contributes to the success of the Nursing Department as a whole but to the success of the entire organization. Donna, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to HHS, we all truly appreciate what you do. Keep up the great work!

Way to go Winners
Christine Bridgeford, Nutrtion Assistant, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital
When a patient was ordering her breakfast she mentioned that she was being discharged but had no food at home. Chris looked at what the patient liked to order and sent up a tray with packaged food for her to take home.
Leslie Chisholm, Lab Services Associate, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital
Recently, a woman’s son was assigned a project to research what a Phlebotomy Technician does and to give a presentation, write a report and develop a business card pretending he was a technician. Therefore, his mother brought him with her for her annual blood draw where they met Leslie. She spent significant time with her son telling him about how she came to be a Phlebotomy Technician and showing him the entire process and supplies associated with her work. The woman’s son was thrilled and fascinated. The teacher and his peers told him his presenation was the most interesting, thanks entirely to Leslie’s input. He received an A on the project, but most importantly, the experience of learning from Leslie will not soon be forgotten and might just influence his future path. It is nice to know that our local hospital has such caring people.
Holly Faux, Process Improvement Specialist, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital
Holly is a consummate professional and skilled teacher when it comes to leading change, extracting data and creating reports. She was able to source, analyze and simplify difficult data and teach us how to create visuals that could be understood by all. She is genuine and very patient. We have all grown to depend on her expertise. Holly is a truly gifted member of the Hallmark Health System team and an absolute pleasure to work with.
Kevin Preston, ACLS Instructor, Center for Professional, Development, Lawrence Memorial Hosptial
While deployed in Afghanistan, Kevin took the time to respond to an email about our manadorty NetLearning requirements. He apologized for taking awhile to get back to the person who had sent the email because it was crazy over there. He started trying to do his CBTs from over there and was about to get into the system, but then the system crashed. He apologized about failing one of the courses but said he’d keep working on it.
Ankit Rohatgi, MD, Hospitalist, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital
A nurse wanted to thank Dr. Rohatgi for taking the time during a busy day to educate the House Officer on the unit. Dr. Rohatgi is truly a team player.
